Now they are coming of age and maturity, it seems increasingly Generation Y are opening their own businesses, and most of them, like me, are very good it.

You see, I am one of those horrible "Generation Y" all children who are grown now. Most of us have become increasingly dissatisfied with working in "traditional" workplaces where we are often misunderstood, leaving us to venture out on our own.

Many managers view Gen Y as lazy, easily distracted, demanding and unrealistic expectations, and do not know how to handle us. With this lack of understanding is a lack of knowledge on how to prepare a generation and to the right position, and a failure to manage this group in the right way. The result is they do not get the chance to prosper or contribute to the expansion of our capacity, so they just move on to bigger and better things.

This was my situation, when I took my first job after graduating from college. I met with a strong ambition for success, and the ability to quickly learn new skills, but lack the freedom to explore these skills because of the restrictions imposed on me by my employer, who was not yet fully aware of how to get the best of a staff member of Generation Y.

This frustration fueled my desire for a work environment where I could use the skills I knew I had, in the way that I knew was best, to achieve the result that I knew I could achieve. It had to be my own boss, I needed to start my own business.

The industry he knew best and had the right skill set for the graphic design and brand. So I went to register a company and was preparing to have my own graphic design business, and in July 2007, was born GrandBrands.

I started with absolutely nothing in the way of equipment office or clients. What I had though, was a burning ambition to succeed.

My first business computer was an Apple iMac ex-lease "that I bought on eBay for $ 300. I walked cheap printer stores, and eventually used eBay once again as my supplier of things like my office chair, no replacement inks name for the printer and various other business equipment.

In a few months using this simple technology and second-hand and basic office equipment that was producing designs for several million dollars and business liaison with agencies around the world as if we were sitting next to co-workers like everyone else.

A year later, I used some of the funds that had accumulated and started my business GrandBrands second, AstroPrint.com.au. This business secondly, a website for online printing, was designed to be user-driven sales experience while providing the same level of speed and quality service that a user could get to deal with a typical "storefront" type print provider.

It is the ability to be resourceful as this, and understand how to use technology to make the total capacity does Gen Y as a formidable candidate for the business world. Combine these talents with our effort for success and you have a potent recipe for the perfect entrepreneur.

Generation Y has grown with the Internet, from development to its present form, and experienced pace of technological advance that nobody has ever seen before, so we had to develop skills to use technology and adapt to changes and innovations In order to keep pace.

While the uniqueness of Generation Y has required human resource departments to devise new management strategies, the changes in technology have radically altered marketing strategies as well.

Social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and are changing the face of marketing - is not just about having an online presence more.

Consumers want to know more about you, and social networks presents a opportunity to communicate with your target market in a way that benefits both sides, is a two-way interaction, not just a selling point as a way traditional approaches, such as websites and advertising.

From a service position, more companies are turning to online providers such as AstroPrint because they like having control of the sales process, while also benefiting from faster response times compared to the traditional operations.

For example, a consumer can go to my site, generating an immediate appointment, answers to their questions in real time through the system chat online, and can also look the business on Facebook, Twitter and Digg, if you will join us in this way. This is the type of connection of consumers are now inadequate.

To help you better understand Generation Y, and get the best of them, here are some tips:

  1. Generation Y need constant stimulation, so a job that allows them to work creatively, or technology is a good start
  2. We are also known by our desire for instant gratification - to give regular information, salary reviews or incentive schemes are great motivators for us
  3. Overall, we are sociable creatures, so it offers opportunities to meet fellow staff and managers on a personal level is welcome. Some departments human resources and administrators are doing this through casual clothes day, pub-day lunch, or completely taking off-site personnel for team-building exercises or retreats.
